Boy, what a day. STRESS STRESS STRESS STRESS!! I had some troubles back at home hit me at 6:30 AM, so I only got 3 hours of sleep. I rushed through all of the packing, and somehow managed to fit all of my belongings and new acquirements into a single suitcase, two carry on bags, and a large parcel to send home. It was quite the undertaking, but grazie Dio, I did it! How did that happen!?
I enjoyed a breakfast pizza with Nan, Madeline, and Melanie before heading over to have some tea and scones with some of the other remaining students. It felt so weird to say goodbye to everyone and hear our last "Darina Speech" because it had become such a common thing to see everyone on the daily. I will dearly miss everyone here! It seemed fitting that today would be raining - the weather certainly reflected all of our moods.Bad day... Packed everything up, breakfast pizza, sent off package, said good bye to people, last chat at the scones, NAN, HOSPITAL, driving with Madeline, hotel dinner, sleep.

I shan't go into all of the details, but long story short just 5 minutes after pulling out of the Ballymaloe Cookery School one last time, Nan completely dislocated her shoulder while running up to the Kilmahon House to give the owners a gift. It seemed like a horrible dream! We all had no idea what to do, and could only comfort her as much as we could while we waited for the EMTs to get there and take her to the Cork Hospital (45 minutes away - ugh!). I never realized how painful it is to dislocate a shoulder!! I felt so awful for Nan!!!!!!!! I don't think I've ever been around anyone in that much excruciating pain before :(. It was such a sad way to say goodbye to her, too - laying on a stretcher, sleeves cut off and drugged out in the emergency room. That will not be our last encounter, I know that for sure!!
Madeline and I still managed to make it to Dublin by that evening, thanks to a taxi driver friend of the School. We were in such a state of shock. At least we had each other. Also, it was such a shame to have the hotel's chicken curry for dinner - it was AWFUL! Basically a slightly-spiced, gooey, gravy-like consistency with a bit of chicken and vegetables. Ick. I miss Ballymaloe curries! :(.
Did today really happen? What a stressful day! D:
