Today was a blah day. Despite my best efforts, I really did nothing of interest besides running. I made my order of work for the big day tomorrow, where I cook my final meal, and I also spent way too much time studying health and safety for the written exam on Friday. I also ate some of the food that students prepped today in their practical exams. As I was heading out for my afternoon run, look what I happened upon: an olive tree that was growing CHILI PEPPERS! How strange!!!
Haha I realized after a minute or two that they were artificially placed on the trees by the gardeners to get us into the Christmas spirit. I can't believe that this is going to be one of my last runs here. So sad! I keep going on really long runs because I just want to see as much of the countryside as possible before leaving. Can you believe that daffodils are coming into bloom at this point of the year!? I guess it just goes to show how different the climate is here in comparison to the occasional yet brutal cold of Virginia. They are my favorite type of flower because of how sunny and incandescently happy they are :).
I baked my final sourdough loaf here and had to say goodbye to my sourdough career for the time being. I'll miss all of the fun Nan and I had with Tim and the other students. I am SO glad that I decided to go over that particular evening several weeks ago to experiment :). My last spelt loaf turned out okay... it didn't rise a ton, but that's okay. I think the flavor will still be nice!
And at last, it's time for the exam tomorrow! I can't believe we've already made it this far! Fingers crossed for tomorrow :).
