Today was pretty good! I don't have a ton of time to blog right now so it's going to be short. Wine Wednesday was fun- it was all about organic, biodynamic, and natural wines. Apparently there's a whole "natural wine movement" going on right now, which means the wine is pretty much "naked" and can't have any added sulfites (preservatives) or intervention in the fermentation process. We had a Skype wine tasting with a woman who is part of a vineyard in Rueda, Spain. The three wines we tried were all made from the Verdejo grape variety, which is a white wine. We also tried three reds from southwest France that were: Cabernet France, Malbec, and a sweet wine. Yum! Kind of weird drinking all this wine before noon though :P.
We learned about fermentation after lunch today, which was pretty fun! It makes me want to start a bunch of different ferments at home (water kefir, dairy free yogurt, kombucha, sauerkraut, kimchi, mead (which is literally honey and water that ferments into alcohol!), and sourdough. All good stuff!
I went on a lovely run this evening and found a great big grassy field on a hill to frolic in for a little bit. The grass was so green!!! I ran to the very middle of it and basked in its vast enormity.
Tomorrow's the big field trip, and also MATTHEW'S COMING!!!! (My boyfriend!). I can't wait!!!!!! Until tomorrow then I guess!
