How is it already Friday!? Wow. Cooking in the kitchen today went well! I had so much fun baking!!!! Here's what I made:
- Praline cake: this is quite a forgiving cake, crumb-wise, because you put praline into everything! If you have crumbs that get stuck in your buttercream, you can't even tell! The cake (with praline mixed in) was nice and moist, and the french buttercream (egg yolk and hot sugar syrup whisked, then cooled and whipped with butter) with praline was insane. YUMMMM!!!! :D:D:D Luckily I only tried the icing once I had finished icing the cake, or else I could've eaten the whole lot.
- Spiced aubergine: I love this combination of flavors. It has fennel, cumin, and coriander as the base (and isn't "hot" spicy, rather with lots of aromatic flavors), with tomatoes and aubergine. It's definitely something I'll make when I get home (maybe it'll even convert my mom over to eggplant too! :D).
- White yeast bread: I practiced making bread again, and decided to turn it into a 5-plait/braid!!! Since I used all of the dough for the braid, it made a MASSIVE loaf. :)
After demo, I fed my sourdough and then decided to test my mom's gluten free cookie recipes! They turned out really well! Sadly I forgot to take a picture though. I want to try and type up the recipe and give it to Ballymaloe - who knows, maybe my mom will be famous! :D I also made some tiny ones to enter into the petit fours competition on Saturday! :)
