What a day! It's nice to know that we have a whole weekend now after such a busy week! Again, I had to wake up extra early for a duty - making chopping vegetables for the stocks they make here. Working in the kitchen went pretty well too! I think I'm still wrapping my head around working under a time crunch (so to speak), but at least today wasn't that bad! I made a tomato purée, a large batch of raspberry jam (partially made with raspberries I picked off the farm yesterday! :D), and a gluten free tomato, spicy chorizo, rosemary, and cream pasta dish. I got good reviews from my teacher again!! :D:D Yay! The only issues I had were overcooking the pasta a bit and having a jam that was a bit too runny. No matters! Here's a couple of the shots I took :).
We had so many desserts today - wow! Everything we saw Rory demonstrate on Wednesday. The afternoon demo also had a fair bit of dessert, as you can see in the next picture. The two that really stood out to me were definitely the most simplistic: fresh, chocolate-covered mint leaf, and also basil-wedged strawberries. Yum! The farm staff also found a HUMONGOUS Savoy Cabbage in the garden this morning, so I thought I'd show that too! I've never seen one that big!
I was able to do a grueling workout with two of the students on the tennis courts later this evening, which was fun. It feels so nice to have let off some steam! Lately I've been finding that I absolutely LOVE taking pictures! Here are two that I liked - the first of some beautiful, daisy-like flowers on some steps, and the second of the white dove that wanders around the courtyard all the time :).
The rest of the evening has been fun too just hanging out! Time to get ready for tomorrow morning's fun, where I get to experience working in the Ballymaloe House kitchen bright and early! Woot woot! I can't wait to see what fun tomorrow brings! Hope everyone has a great weekend! I'd also like to thank you guys (whoever you are) for reading my blog :).
Until next time,
