I slept in so late today! I don't think I've woken up as late as 11 in a really long time! I guess I did stay up really late finishing the movie last night hah. Right after I woke up, I decided to go on a run to wake myself up an clear my mind. It was really windy and rainy, but that didn't stop me - if anything, it made it even more enjoyable :). I wasn't able to see my cow friends (which are right around the bend where the car was stopped in the first picture), so I decided to take a new route and see what I'd fine. Lo and behold, I met MORE COWS!! :D:D Also, look at how GREEN the grass is! It's incredible! Sadly I couldn't stay and chill with them for very long or else I would've been chilled to the bone so I continued on!
The rest of the day went by in a blur. I was productive at least in dealing with the pig head. Last night I had to boil it down with other seasonings for 4.5 hours! D:. This afternoon I finally managed to turn it into Brawn. Bren was nice enough to help pick through some of the meat with me to get me started because I was a bit squeamish. I was the one that said yes to the darned thing, so it was my responsibility! Sigh. I ended up giving it away because after making it I couldn't really bring myself to eat it. The bones didn't go to waste either - the dog from down the road who always saunters onto the property at about 2 every day picked them up for me.
I had imagined having a rather uneventful evening, but funny enough I took up the invitation to go to the cinema and see Burnt with some of the girls in my cottage. It was really good!!! It's about a chef (Bradley Cooper) who is trying to get his third Michelin star (which is unheard of!). We all got so stressed out for the other chefs in his kitchen while they were cooking under pressure. I guess we can relate to it more so than before after being here for 9 weeks now. Crazy as I am, that sort of environment seems dangerously invigorating. I wonder if I'll ever work in a restaurant kitchen like that.
We also went to a place called "Ramen" for dinner in Midleton afterwards! I got a pad Thai for the first time in months, and boy did it taste good! ^_^.
On to week 9 now. Can you believe it!? I have to start thinking about what I want to make for my final exam! :O. It's hard to imagine I'll be home in less than a month now!
