It was hard dropping Matthew off at the airport this morning. At least we had a great breakfast in our bellies!! Our host made us porridge, tea, and blackberry jam muffins. It was all so delicious! Also, we only had 4 hours or so of sleep, so needless to say we were looking a little rough in the picture. I can't believe this weekend is already gone!!! Where did the time go!? It still feels like a dream. As a pick-me-up, I stopped at a Chocolate Café in Cork and sipped on an almond milk dark hot chocolate while nibbling on a double chocolate truffle. I love the quote that one of our tea towels at home says: "Chocolate doesn't ask questions - chocolate understands."
When I got back to Ballymaloe, I reorganized my life. I went on a run to clear my head (though I was still insanely tired), and then walked around the gardens with Nan for awhile. We met some of the lady Jersey cows!! Gosh I love cows. One kept licking Nan's hand! We both wanted to touch up on our salad and herb repertoire, so we studied in the greenhouse. I love studying like this - there's a physical thing right in front of you that you can taste, smell, and touch to remember it. It's so much better than reading it out of a textbook and trying to memorize it! I hope the salad and herb recognition test on Friday isn't too hard!
Overall, I'm absolutely exhausted from this weekend. And that's all I have to say about that. (hah - Forrest Gump quote :D). I had such a blast with Matthew! I am so lucky to have such a special person in my life. He says that the way I talk has changed a little bit - I guess I'm starting to pick up some of the mannerisms here :). Having Matthew here has made me miss home immensely though, and I can't wait to come home! I guess I might as well make the most of the rest of my time here though!! A quote my sister Lucy gave me is: "Wherever you are, be all there," or something like that. It's time to start another week of cooking!! Woohoo!!!
One thing I learned today: when you vacuum your room after 5 weeks, the rug looks SOOO much cleaner!!! I didn't even realize it had gotten so dirty :P
Favorite part of the day: spending just a little bit more time with Matthew before he had to leave. Also, hanging out with the cows and Nan. They're a fun group!

Livvy
