Saturday was so much fun!! I wish there was more time in a day! Matthew and I woke up to a lovely full Irish breakfast that the woman at our B&B made for us. She was so sweet! Matthew actually liked the black (blood) pudding!! (At least, that's what he told me). Bren gave us a ride to Cork, which was really sweet of him. We had a chance to walk around Cork for a little bit and ended up running into a Ballymaloe instructor. We all went to a cafe together, which was great!
Then Matthew and I grabbed a bus to Dublin and spent the rest of the day exploring the city center. What fun! We had absolutely no agenda and made everything up as we went. For a snack, we had some sort of chocolate mousse cake called "Death By Chocolate" at a small cafe called The Wooden Whisk. :). I really enjoyed taking pictures while we were in Dublin too. I didn't realize there was a waterway that went through the city! Watching the sun slip behind the skyline from a bridge with mah boo was quite nice! For dinner, we tried going to two delicious-sounding organic restaurants, but sadly they turned us away saying "they were booked." We did have all of our bags (which we lugged around with us the whole time- oops!), so I guess we would've made the places feel cramped? Oh well! We ended up going to a great burger place and got mile-high lamb burgers! Yum! Here are some of my favorites...
After we'd finished our Dublin adventures, we got a cab to the place we were staying through AirBnb near the airport. The man there was so accommodating! He made us tea and shortbread when we got there, and also a fabulous conversation. He and his wife are well-weathered travelers, and he recounted several of his experiences with us. Apparently in 2007, he booked a one-way ticket with his now-wife to New York, bought motorcycles, and drove up to Alaska, then all the way down to the most southern point of South America. Holy cow!!! That makes me want to do something like that! Hearing about his travels lights a spark in me. Gah I am such an impatient person!!! I just need to get through college. I have loved seeing Matthew so much though - if anyone can keep me grounded, it's him. That or he could just come with me :). I guess the great fun about traveling is not just about the people you meet, but also the people you're with!
One thing I learned today: put bags down BEFORE trying to trek through a big city. It's so inconvenient!
Favorite part of the day: exploring with Matthew and going in random directions just out of pure curiosity.
Love,
Livvy
