- Brown Soda Bread - this was not a great bread. :( I decided to make it without the instructor there with me, and I ended up putting too much liquid into it. Oh well! Mistakes happen, and now I know NOT to add in all the liquid at first. I just need to practice making it more!
- Flour tortillas - these were actually pretty fun! They're simply water, flour, butter, and salt. Good stuff! I guess they were just fairly tedious and took up a lot of my time this morning.
- Coconut, lime, and pineapple sorbet - basically a dairy free ice cream! Yum! I really enjoyed this sorbet! It was very light and fluffy. The difference between the coconut ice creams I've made at home and this one was that I made a sugar syrup and added the coconut milk to it with some lemon juice, then popped it straight into a sorbetiere. I didn't have to cook the mix at all over a stove or add tapioca or anything. Delicious! (the pineapple was a garnish, by the way, and not in the sorbet).
- Orange scones (which they pronounce "scaaahhhhn" here, not "scohw-n" haha) - I think this is really what put me behind, because it was completely optional (as was the bread) and took a lot longer than I had expected. They turned out really tasty and HUGE!! Bigger than my first! It was sort of like a cinnamon roll except with a lot of orange zest. Yum! I burned myself taking them out of the oven, but it wasn't too bad. I was feeling really rushed and wasn't as cautious as I should have been.
- Glazed carrots - very similar to the dill carrots we make at home. I just made these without the herbs. When done right (which I think I did!), there's a lovely sweet and almost syrupy glaze over the carrots that comes from evaporating the liquid and having the sugar from the carrots (and a bit that you add) leftover. Yum!
- Quesadillas with chorizo, chilly, and mozzarella - I got to make these with the fresh tortillas I'd made earlier. I thought they tasted pretty good! :) Apparently I served flat parsley as a garnish instead of cilantro... Oops. It's still hard for me to tell the difference!
